Sie wer­den gera­de über­wacht. Eine Aus­stel­lung von Ste­phan Kambor-Wiesenberg zum The­ma Daten­schutz. Vom 25. bis 30.12.2014 auf dem 31. Cha­os Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Con­gress (31C3) im Con­gress Cen­ter Ham­burg (CCH) in Zusam­men­ar­beit mit Digi­tal­cou­ra­ge.

Die Aus­stel­lung zeigt sechs unter­schied­li­che Figu­ren, die jede für sich, ein spe­zi­fi­sches Daten­schutz­pro­blem bzw. The­ma visua­li­siert. Ein Auf­stel­ler zu jeder Figur hilft den Besu­che­rin­nen und Besu­chern bei der Inter­pre­ta­ti­on, ein QR-Code ver­weist auf die Web­sei­te der Figur mit wei­ter­füh­ren­den Infor­ma­tio­nen und gibt die Mög­lich­keit zu Kom­men­tie­ren. An jeder Figur bekom­men Besu­che­rin­nen und Besu­cher Kugel­schrei­ber und Auf­kle­ber mit der Auf­schrift „Sie wer­den gera­de über­wacht.“ ange­bo­ten, um jede und jeden mit ein­zu­be­zie­hen. Es sind Moment­auf­nah­men unse­rer Rea­li­tät oder unse­rer Zukunft. Es betrifft uns alle. Ohne zu Beleh­ren, soll die Aus­stel­lung Infor­mie­ren, sen­si­bi­li­sie­ren und zu Dis­kus­sio­nen animieren.

You are under surveillance.

An exhi­bi­ti­on by Ste­phan Kambor-Wiesenberg in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with Digi­tal­cou­ra­ge e.V. on the sub­ject of data pro­tec­tion on the 31^st Cha­os Com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on Con­gress (31C3) at Con­gress Cen­ter Ham­burg (CCH).

During 31C3, dif­fe­rent figu­res are shown and each of them repres­ents a spe­ci­fic pro­blem of data pro­tec­tion. They are cal­led for exam­p­le “The for­mer bonus points coll­ec­tor“, “The smart­phone user“, “The thought offi­cer”, “The ext­or­ted CEO”, and “The trans­pa­rent lady”. A dis­play is asso­cia­ted to each figu­re to assist the visi­tors to inter­pret the art­work. The QR code and the URL refer to the web page of the par­ti­cu­lar figu­re which pro­vi­des fur­ther infor­ma­ti­on and the oppor­tu­ni­ty to lea­ve comm­ents. All figu­res are equip­ped with ball­point pens and sti­ckers which bear the words “You are under sur­veil­lan­ce” to invol­ve ever­y­bo­dy into the art­work. Ever­y­bo­dy is affec­ted, not only the sym­bo­lic indi­vi­du­als that are part of the exhi­bi­ti­on. The state­ment “You are under sur­veil­lan­ce” is curr­ent­ly true for all of us. The exhi­bi­ti­on shows snapshots of the pre­sent and the future. Wit­hout indoc­tri­na­ting the visi­tors, it is to sen­si­ti­ze and to trig­ger discussions.

Ste­phan Kambor-Wiesenberg, who was born in Cott­bus in 1979, is qua­li­fied elec­tro­nics tech­ni­ci­an, com­pu­ter sci­en­tist and MBA. In 2002, he has star­ted to work in the are­as of media art, instal­la­ti­ons, thea­ter, pho­to­gra­phy, fashion design, and pain­ting. His art­work has alre­a­dy been pre­sen­ted to the public for exam­p­le at fairs, at events of art asso­cia­ti­ons, in public buil­dings and at muse­ums in the Ger­man cities Stutt­gart, Frank­furt, Hano­ver, Mag­de­burg, Leip­zig, Ham­burg, Ber­lin as well as in New York (USA). He also con­tri­bu­ted to the cata­lo­gue “Design and the Ela­s­tic Mind” by the Muse­um of Modern Arts, NY. Sin­ce 2013, he is stu­dy­ing visu­al arts in Stutt­gart and is working as an agi­le IT pro­ject mana­ger, scrum mas­ter and data pro­tec­tion officer.

Sin­ce 1987, the non-profit orga­niza­ti­on Digi­tal­cou­ra­ge e.V. is enga­ged on the area of civil rights, data pro­tec­tion and to achie­ve a world worth living within the digi­tal age. Among other things, the orga­niza­ti­on awards the Big­Brot­he­rA­wards on a year­ly basis. Digi­tal­cou­ra­ge e.V. is sup­port­ed by pri­va­te dona­ti­ons and vol­un­t­a­ry work.
